Meghan Markle's life has changed irreversibly since becoming a member of the royal family. After getting engaged to Prince Harry in 2017 and marrying him in May 2018, the former actress had to quit her job playing Rachel Zane in Suits, ditch her personal social media accounts as well as her side-hustle blog, and relocate from Toronto to London. No biggie.

But while, these days, she's the Duchess of Sussex, that doesn't stop Meghan from enjoying the odd flashback to her previous, very different, life. In a recent Instagram post on the @SussexRoyal account Meghan and Harry use to share personal and professional updates, Meghan posted a photograph of herself from 2014 in a post commemorating Remembrance Day.

Yesterday - 11 November - was Remembrance day, marking the moment fighting in World War I came to an end. In the United States, it was also Veterans Day, which is a day to celebrate those who have bravely served in the Armed Forces.

To honour the occasion, the Sussex Royal account posted a series of pictures relating of Meghan Markle alongside veterans from around the world. The first photograph shows the now Duchess wearing a baseball cap, smiling as she poses in front of hundreds of Armed Forces members.

"Thank you to all, for your service, sacrifice and commitment. It has been an important week to recognise those who serve (and have served) as well as to acknowledge their families," the post read.

"In 2014, The (now) Duchess of Sussex proudly went on @TheUSO tour with the Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff, visiting troops in five countries: Spain, Italy, Turkey, Afghanistan and the United Kingdom. During this tour, The Duchess met with service personnel and their families and she was proud to recognise their service to the country," the caption explained.

"At the time, The Duchess said: 'I have always had such a profound respect for our nation’s troops and military families. I cannot thank them enough for everything they do for us.'"

Over the weekend, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry joined the rest of the royal family at two special events commemorating Remembrance Day. On Saturday they attended a Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, and on Sunday they went to a Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph in Whitehall. It was the first time Meghan and Harry have appeared together in a professional capacity with Prince William and Kate Middleton since June this year, but the couples were largely kept separate.

At the Festival of Remembrance, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were sat on opposite sides of the balcony to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - and the reason why was all to do with the order of precedence.

Queen Elizabeth, being the monarch, always sits in the centre, along with Prince Charles next to her. Prince William is second in line to the throne, so he and Kate were placed next to the Queen. Prince Harry, being sixth in line, is not such a senior royal, hence he and Meghan were sat at the other end of the balcony by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The Sussexes will wrap up their official duties for the year soon, and will take a six-week break to spend some quality family time together, split between their home, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, and the USA, where they'll reportedly take baby Archie to spend Thanksgiving with Meghan's mum, Doria Ragland.
