The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to make a televised appearance in a few days’ time when the new 100 Most Influential People list is announced by Time magazine.

Ever since 2004, the Time 100 list has been announced on an annual basis, collating high-profile individuals who are having the most significant impact on the world.

On Tuesday 22 September, the list will broadcast on TV for the first time, as part of a special aired on American television network ABC.

The special will feature appearances from several notable individuals, including television host Trevor Noah, Killing Eve star Sandra Oh and singer John Legend.

Also on the billing are Meghan and Prince Harry, who are currently in Santa Barbara, California at their new home with their son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

ABC says that the TV special, which will feature the list of 100 people in its entirety, will be “an entertainment-filled look at the leaders, creators and everyday heroes comprising the 2020 list ahead of its Time print debut”, as told to E!.

Ian Orefice, Time studios president, explained the significance of airing the Time 100 Most Influential People list on TV amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“In a year in which we are unfortunately unable to convene the Time100 community together in person, we are excited to celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the members of this year’s list with a brand-new experience on ABC that will allow more people to participate than ever before,” Mr Orefice stated.

Rob Mills, of ABC, said that the network was “elated” to be broadcasting the first ever Time 100 televised special, stating: "Amidst this unprecedented year, we hope that viewers at home will not only be entertained but feel inspired by the impact that the honorees of the 2020 Time100 list have made on the world."

In addition to the Time 100 list being announced during the televised special, it will also be published on the publication’s website on the same day.

The list will also feature in Time magazine, which will be available for consumers to purchase from Friday 25 September.
