Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Honor Veterans Day Through Instagram

  • While the British royals honor Remembrance Day in the United Kingdom, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry also commemorated the United States' Veterans Day.

  • On their joint Instagram account, the royals posted a photo of Meghan during a 2014 USO tour, during which she visited American troops stationed in five countries.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have had an itinerary full of Remembrance Day events ahead of their planned break from royal duties. While they and the rest of the British royal family honor those lives lost after World War I, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are also commemorating the holiday's American equivalent: Veterans Day.

On Instagram, Harry and Meghan posted a touching tribute to U.S. vets, uploading a photo from Meghan's 2014 tour with the United Service Organizations, a nonprofit corporation that delivers entertainment and programs to service members and their families.

During the tour, Meghan—then the star of the legal drama Suits—visited American troops stationed in Spain, Italy, Turkey, Afghanistan, and the United Kingdom.

"I have always had such a profound respect for our nation's troops and military families," Meghan reportedly said at the time. "I cannot thank them enough for everything they do for us."

Today is Remembrance Day and also Veterans Day in the United States, a day to honour those who have bravely served in the Armed Forces. Thank you to all, for your service, sacrifice and commitment. During this tour, The Duchess met with service personnel and their families and she was proud to recognise their service to the country. As Remembrance Day events wind down, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to take time off from their royal duties, splitting time between the United Kingdom and the United States. They also plan to spend their first Thanksgiving with baby Archie Mountbatten-Windsor in the States.
