Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Just Left Their First Instagram Comment—and It’s a Cute One

Today, April 23, is Prince Louis of Cambridge's first birthday. Among other celebrations, his parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William, marked the occasion by releasing three adorable new photos of the little nugget, all of which were taken by his mother, the Duchess of Cambridge.

The little prince also got a special birthday wish from his aunt and uncle—Meghan Markle and Prince Harry—via their first Instagram comment since launching their Sussex Royal account earlier this month. "Happy Birthday Louis! Sending lots of love from both of us 🎂🎈xo," the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wrote to their youngest nephew.

Take a look for yourself:

That message sounds personal—as if the Sussexes composed it themselves, as opposed to staff—which will surely fuel the rumors that Markle is very hands-on with the new account. (I know I certainly appreciate the well-placed emoji from whoever is doing the posting.)

Hopefully, it will also quiet those who continue to speculate on some sort of massive feud between the two couples, which royals expert Katie Nicholl told Glamour is an exaggeration. "I do know that Meghan and Kate have come to an agreement to get along, to make an effort, to be amiable and warm toward each other in public," she told us about the feud rumors. "They both realize it's in neither of their interests to have these catfight headlines. It's not what either of them want."

But this is the royal family, which means every single move, gesture, and social media post is analyzed like the latest episode of Game of Thrones. For example, look at how many people thought the Cambridges had snubbed Markle by not including her in a recent birthday post to the queen—even though the Duchess of Sussex wasn't around at the time the photo was taken and has her own Instagram account with Harry, where the royal couple posted their own birthday greetings to the monarch.

Either way, it's a sweet message to send to Louis, who is hopefully having a great day with his family and eating a delicious cake at some point. Meanwhile, the rest of us will continue to wait with bated breath for the birth of his cousin Baby Sussex, who's due to arrive any day now.
