At their first joint royal engagement of the year, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry went above and beyond for a few young fans.

The Duke and Duchess were making their way through the crowd during their visit to Birkenhead, when they came upon a group of blind children. Local Member of Parliament Frank Field told People what happened next. "In the square, there were some blind children who wanted to touch the royal faces because they couldn’t see them," he said. "Both of them went down on their haunches so the children could touch their faces."

Another local, an aunt of one of the children involved, shared the events on Twitter. "Harry held on to [my niece] ensuring she was safe," she wrote. "Meghan went down on the floor to take a card she had made for her in braille."

She attached a photo of Meghan appearing to feel the braille card. "They'll make great parents," she wrote.

It seems the royal couple won over both children and adults on their visit. Field spoke highly of Harry and Meghan's trip to Birkenhead to T&C. "What you see is this ability of taking the monarchy way into this century," he said. Rachel Markey, a session planner at The Hive, a charity the couple visited, explained that "The young people really relate to her, they think she’s very influential within their generation."

"They are so down to earth, so friendly. They talk to people, especially young people, they talk to them on a level that they totally understand," Markey added. "They made a nice connection straight away."
