In the new documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, Duchess Meghan has revealed for the very first time that her British friends were concerned about her budding relationship with Prince Harry.

Discussing the constant media speculation she's been subjected to since first being linked to Prince Harry, Meghan explained, "It’s hard. I don’t think anybody could understand that."

As for the backlash she's experienced, particularly in the British media, Meghan told the interviewer, "In all fairness, I had no idea, which probably sounds difficult to understand." She continued, "But when I first met Harry, my friends were so excited. My U.S. friends were happy because I was happy. But my British friends, they were sure he was lovely, but they said I shouldn't do it because, 'The British tabloids will destroy your life.'

However, because she was in love with Harry, she didn't heed the warning. Meghan said, "Because I'm American, I very naively didn't get it. I'm not in any tabloids. It's complicated."

It's clear that the tabloid scrutiny Meghan has found herself under has been unrelenting, which is why fans have rallied around the duchess, even creating the hashtag, #WeLoveYouMeghan, hoping to instigate change.
