Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle's recent move to Canada, along with little Archie (who is apparently already loving it), has lead to plenty of confusion over whether or not the couple will keep their titles and what they'll do next workwise.

One thing that has been confirmed, by a statement from Buckingham Palace, is that both Meghan and Harry will continue to keep their charity patronages (of which Harry has 16, including the Invictus Games Foundation for injured veterans and the Royal Marines). An extract from the statement, published 18 January, read:

With The Queen's blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations. While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made it clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty.

Meghan, as it was announced in January of last year, selected four causes close to her heart to represent and raise awareness for. They range from the National Theatre (make sense, given her history as an actor), the Association of Commonwealth Universities, The Mayhew (an animal-focussed charity which helps to re-home cats and and dogs) and Smart Works, which helps women get back into work.

This morning, the Duchess of Sussex shared an Instagram post of a visit she made to The Mayhew in London a couple of weeks ago – something which hadn't been reported until now. It's clear that Meghan is a real animal lover and has two dogs of her own, Guy and Oz.

Accompanying the Instagram post was a caption explaining that she'd "popped in to see the amazing people at Mayhew to hear about the incredible progress made throughout the festive period."

It continued on to say:

The Duchess of Sussex, having been proud patron of Mayhew since January 2019 and long understanding the connection between animal and community welfare, applauds the people at Mayhew for the vital work that they do every day.

From cats and dogs who have found new homes to animal welfare cases handled in the community – @TheMayhew believes in the power of togetherness and the special bond between humans and animals.

Can we all just give a collective "aaw!" for that poor pooch in a cone, please?
