  • Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (AKA Meghan Markle) wears a purple dress by Babaton for Artiza at Royal Albert Hall

  • The Duchess appears to be channelling her mother-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales, who wore a similar look in Chicago in 1996

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (AKA Meghan Markle) stepped out in one of her most affordable looks to date at the One Young World summit at Royal Albert Hall last night.

As Vice-President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, this was The Duchess’ first time attending the event as a member of the royal family; she previously attended the summit in Dublin in 2014 and Ottawa in 2016 with mega babe Justin Trudeau.

Looking radiant with natural makeup and long tousled waves, Meghan was all smiles in a violet midi dress, paired with her favourite navy Manolo Blahnik pumps.

This was Meghan's first public engagement since revealing that she has been struggling to cope with the pressures of royal life in ITV’s emotional AF documentary on Meghan and Harry’s tour of Africa.

The candid doco caused outpouring of support from the public with the #WeLoveYouMeghan trending on Twitter.

Think this dress looks familiar? That’s because it is. Meghan originally wore the 'Maxwell' dress by Babaton for Artiza, £38, at an engagement with Prince Harry in January when she was six months pregnant with baby Archie. (Who can forget Meghan’s super chic pregnancy style?)

The Duchess has become a fan of recycling looks, specifically on her most recent tour of Africa after getting flack from the press for spending hundreds and thousands of pounds on clothing for her official engagements. But we still stan those Prada moments.

Unfortunately royal fans hoping to snap up the dress will be disappointed, as it has already sold out online after going on sale (it originally retailed for £107); proving the Meghan-effect is in full force.

However, the Canadian retailer is selling a similar style in the purple hue, which is currently on sale for £45. But we have a feeling they will restock this baby, so make sure you sign up to the waitlist.

This isn’t the first time The Duchess has been spotted in such an affordable look, remember when the internet went crazy after she wore that black ASOS maternity dress? Yeah, we still can’t get over it.

The Insta community is in full swing as Meghan’s recent outing drew comparisons to a similar look Princess Diana wore in Chicago in 1996. The violet Versace gown was a bold move for Princess Di, who was experimenting with more modern looks after her divorce from Prince Charles.

With a reported six-week break from royal duties, we won’t be spying The Duchess in any new looks for while, so I guess we’ll just have to imagine her Thanksgiving lewk. We're thinking cosy sweaters and silk pyjama pants?
