Meghan McCain lashes out at Joy Behar on 'The View' after political jokes: 'I can't find the humor in it right now'
Politics are no laughing matter for Meghan McCain, and she made that quite clear on Thursday’s episode of The View. Co-host Joy Behar, known for her biting quips, mocked President Trump’s hand gestures at a press conference following his abrupt exit from a meeting with democratic congressional leaders. “He’s like a mime,” joked Behar.
But McCain slapped back at her co-host and others who joke about politics. “I understand the inclination to find humor in this,” said McCain. “But I just feel depressed more than anything that this is where we’re at.” She continued, “We’re talking about people’s lives at stake so maybe a little less humor and a little more work on everyone would be nice.”
“Well he’s ridiculous,” Behar clapped back referring to Trump. “He is ridiculous,” agreed McCain. “I just can’t find the humor in it right now,” she countered.
Viewers on Twitter mostly defended Behar and slammed McCain, agreeing that finding humor in heavy subjects can be valuable:

Whoopi Goldberg also stood up to McCain to explain the importance of humor in times of crisis. “The reason I have to keep a humorous head is because it allows me to look forward and see what we can do better,” she said. “This is enough to drive one’s soul into the ground,” she added.
McCain quickly changed the subject, and went on to chastise both democrats and republicans for not working together, and also took her own show to task for not coming together to bridge the gap between conservatives and liberals. “We have to put this crap aside, all of us here at The View as well, and politicians in D.C. At a certain point we have to work together for America,” she said. “I for one am sick of party politics and what’s happened in the past and there is blame everywhere all around.”
At least one viewer thought McCain’s call for unity was disingenuous:
