Last Friday, The View co-host Meghan McCain revealed via The New York Times that she had suffered a miscarriage. After her fans rallied behind the conservative panelist, she shared a heartfelt message with them on Instagram and paid tribute to the support she's been receiving from her husband, Ben Domenech.

"Thank you for so many beautiful and kind responses to my New York Times @nytimes op-ed about my recent miscarriage," Meghan wrote alongside a photo of herself and her husband. "Ben and I are the luckiest, most incredibly blessed people in the world surrounded by love and support."

She continued to say that she hopes sharing her story and grief will help moms who go through the same tragedy feel less alone.

"I was petrified to share my story publicly but I never, ever let fear dictate my life choices. I will always take the leap, I will always roll the dice."

Lastly, Meghan gave an important shout out to her "#RideorDie" husband, saying that Ben, founder of The Federalist, "continues to be the greatest source of strength, love, and faith" for her.

After Meghan's story was released on July 19, Ben retweeted the NYT piece and said: "I wish I didn't have to wait to meet her."

According to Meghan's op-ed in the newspaper, she got confirmation from her doctor that she had miscarried the day of her New York Times Magazine cover story about The View, which happened earlier this spring. After that, she spent a few days away from the show to cope.

She wrote:

For a brief moment, I had the privilege of seeing myself in the sisterhood of motherhood. Knowing all the extraordinary mothers that I do — from my own, to my friends, to so many examples of women who have raised children in love and faith, in good times and bad — I knew I was prepared in at least one way. I was prepared in the circle of women to whom I could turn for advice, for support, for love.

Then it all ended — as our child ended.

Meghan then explained that she began blaming herself, but eventually realized that her miscarriage was beyond her control. She ended the powerful op-ed with a vision of her late dad, Senator John McCain. John died on August 25, 2018 after suffering from glioblastoma, a malignant brain tumor.

"When my father passed, I took refuge in the hope that someday we would be united in the hereafter. I still imagine that moment, even as I trust that a loving God will see it happen," Meghan said. "Now I imagine it a bit differently. There is my father — and he is holding his granddaughter in his hands."
