Megyn Kelly to Take on Trump in New Interview, Promises She Isn’t a ‘Sycophant’

Megyn Kelly has announced that she will interview former President Donald Trump next week on her radio show, the first public interview with the former president since Fox’s 2016 primetime special.

“It will be my first interview with a former president in seven years, and there is so much to get to. I’m really looking forward to this. It’s going to be great. It’s going to be spicy, and it’s going to be tough, but you’re all going to enjoy a lot too,” Kelly said in a video posted Thursday on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Prior to her one-on-one with Trump on Fox, Kelly famously grilled the ex-president during a 2015 GOP debate on his history of misogynistic comments toward women.

“You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals,” Kelly said as moderator at the time. “Does that sound like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?”

Her question ignited a firestorm of of anti-Kelly/anti-Fox News remarks from the ex-president for months following the debate. Speaking to CNN after the clash, Trump criticized Kelly’s line of questioning, saying, “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever.” He was promptly disinvited from a GOP event in Atlanta following the comment.

The conservative commentator and the ex-president have since made amends. In June, she claimed they met “for the first time in years” and that “it was, frankly, great to see him.” She added, “All that nonsense between us is under the bridge”

Kelly’s upcoming interview with Trump airs live on The Megyn Kelly Show on SiriusXM, Sept. 14 at noon E.T.

The radio host, who has had several of Trump’s rivals on the show including Vivek Ramaswamy, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, and Democratic candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said she is looking forward to next week’s meeting.

“I’m really looking forward to bringing you this one and many more to come. I’m very glad that he agreed to do it. He’s not saying yes to everyone. And to his credit, you know, Donald Trump knows that I’m not somebody who suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome like the vast majority of people in the media, but I’m also not a sycophant, so I’m not going to go in there and be a bootlicker,” she said. “It’s going to be fun, and he can handle it perfectly well.”

Kelly jumped the Fox ship for NBC days before Trump took the oath of office in 2016. But her gig at the the network was short-lived, and NBC terminated her contract after she made controversial comments about blackface during her morning show.

These days, Kelly is busy pandering to the right while defending Tucker Carlson in his legal battle with their former employer, attacking the Obamas, and grumbling over Mickey Mouse’s “wokeness.”
