WOOSTER − After years of planning, delays and a pandemic, Meijer has announced the grand opening of its Wooster location.

The 159,000-square-foot store at Burbank and Smithville Western roads will officially open on Tuesday, May 16, according to a Meijer press release.

It is one of two Ohio supercenters opening that day. A second store will open in Warren, the county seat of Trumbull County.

“We’ve been so grateful for the warm welcome from area residents so far, and we look forward to providing them another option close to home for groceries and other everyday needs,” said Todd Anderson, Vice President of the Ohio region for Meijer.

The Meijer Express gas station, which is adjacent to the Wooster location, will open on Thursday, April 20.

New grocery location

Wooster's newest store will offer a variety of products ranging from grocery staples like produce, baked goods, meat and deli items along with floral options and a garden center.

The store will also have a pharmacy and pet, electronics, toys, sports, and apparel departments.

“We know that value and convenience are key for our customers, and we look forward to being able to provide both here in Warren and Wooster.”
