Meijer asks shoppers to be patient following credit card issues, overcharges

A Meijer spokesperson wants customers to remain patient after some metro Detroit stores overcharged shoppers.

On Monday, many shoppers were advised to check their bank accounts if they shopped at Meijer over the weekend. Some shoppers were double charged for their purchases if they paid with a debit or credit card.

The issue was between Meijer and their processing partner, Chase Bank.

A Meijer spokesperson says the issue has been resolved on their end.

"This past weekend we experienced issues with our credit/debit card processing due to a technical issue with our processing partner, Chase Bank," the company said in a written statement.

"While the issue has been resolved, we realize it caused tremendous inconvenience for some of our customers and we sincerely apologize for that. Chase has assured us that many of the customer accounts have already been credited, and any remaining affected customers should receive their funds in the coming days."
