Meijer In Evergreen Park Begins Distributing Free N95 Masks

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Meijer grocery stores across Illinois are among the first to begin handing out free N95 masks as part of the federal government's program to distribute 400 million of the masks.

Meijer has received an estimated 3 million masks, which have been made available for no charge to any customer who needs them. Patch confirmed that Meijer had the masks available as of Monday afternoon, but representatives for the company said supplies were running out fast.

The masks are located in the front of the stores. People need only walk up to the table to receive up to three free masks per person. No identification is needed for the masks.

“The N95 masks will be in boxes set on a table near the Meijer Greeter stand of the grocery entrance,” a Meijer spokesperson told Patch. “The greeter, who will be wearing gloves, will place the N95 masks in piles of three for the customers to take.”

Meijer continues to administer COVID-19 vaccines, including boosters, to eligible individuals. To date, the retailer has administered more than 2.8 million doses. All eligible individuals are encouraged to get their vaccine at their local Meijer pharmacy.

The free N95 masks can be picked up from the Meijer’s location in Evergreen Park at 9200 S. Western Ave. (92nd Street and Western Avenue).
Walgreens' locations are expected to begin distributing the free masks starting Friday, according to a report on CNN.

Jewel-Osco, Costco, CVS, Walgreens and Walmart (including Sam’s Club) are also expected to carry the free N95 masks.
