Michigan State football is in the process of creating a new NFL draft streak, starting with last year’s selection of Kenneth Walker III by the Seattle Seahawks.

This year, the Spartans have two players that seem to be locks to at least be drafted, but where they will be selected still remains a hotly debated mystery.

Last year, Jayden Reed decided to forego the NFL draft to return for one more season, but injuries and a sputtering MSU offense had some fans scared his draft stock may have dipped.

Michigan State’s punter, Bryce Baringer, was considered by many to be the best punter in the country last year, which usually gets you some late-round consideration.

The good news for MSU fans (and these players)? NFL draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. had a lot of good things to say about both players and gave some favorable projections for their draft selections.

You can see what he said about both players below.

Kiper’s Draft Projection: Second or Third Round

“The return skills of Jayden Reed, early on, you’re going to get that production there,” Kiper said. “That ability he has there will help you immediately with special teams.”

Kiper’s Draft Projection: Fifth Round

“I think with his leg strength, he’s going to interest teams on day three,” Kiper said. “Can’t say when. There’s a couple punters and there’s a couple kickers that are going to go in this draft, potentially a long snapper as well. To try to predict exactly where they’ll go is impossible.”
