Melania Trump's 2018 Congressional Ball Gown Came Straight From the Runway

A few weeks after unveiling her much talked-about White House holiday decorations, First Lady Melania Trump celebrated the spirit of the season at the 2018 Congressional Ball in a seriously festive gown.

FLOTUS appeared alongside President Donald Trump at the White House on Saturday evening (December 15) in a formfitting, long-sleeve dress made entirely out of white sequins. ('Tis the season, after all.) Take a look.

The style was from Céline's spring 2018 collection—the last one designed by Phoebe Philo, before Hedi Slimane took over and removed the accent from the first "e." It appeared on the runway during Paris Fashion Week last fall.

FLOTUS has worn many looks straight off the runway during her time in the White House. The long-sleeve white gown is a reflection of Philo's 10-year tenure at Céline: formal and polished, but streamlined and unfussy.

Philo's legacy lives on in fan accounts such as @oldceline—and, apparently, in FLOTUS' closet. (Trump previously wore a Céline shirtdress in October, to arrive in Ghana, during her four-country tour of Africa this fall.)

According to the Daily Mail, the First Lady made a short set of remarks to start the Congressional Ball. "Welcome to the White House. Enjoy the evening. Merry Christmas and happy and healthy New Year," she said.

Trump's stylist, Hervé Pierre, has yet to provide a comment about the decision to dress FLOTUS in Céline for the Congressional Ball. In the past, he has said that Trump's fashion choices are part of building her legacy as First Lady: "What interests me in this relationship is not just finding pretty clothes—a lot of people can do that," he said to The New York Times. "It’s more about the legacy of this woman. Everybody has a different reaction to what she’s wearing."
