Melanie Griffith Sells Aspen Ski Home for $4 Million

A lucky buyer just landed Melanie Griffith’s stunning Aspen retreat for $4 million. The 7,391-square-foot, seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom luxury log cabin is located on two acres on the backside of Aspen Mountain, and is accessible via gondola, snowmobile, or skis, with downtown Aspen just a short 20-minute drive away. Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows flood the entire space with tons of natural light, and offer incomparable views of the Aspen Highlands Ridge.

“The main experience is a private setting and view experience that people would associate with being in Switzerland—ridge-lined, snow-capped peaks,” Coldwell Banker Mason Morse real-estate broker Carrie Wells told the Denver Post of the home.

In the great room, a stately stone fireplace separating the living and dining areas commands attention and sets the tone for the rustic mountain decor found throughout the abode. Beyond the dining table, the room continues into a chef’s kitchen with funky, colorful tiles; a breakfast bar; and a cozy corner breakfast nook.

Elsewhere in the home, beautiful views abound. In the master suite, a set of glass sliders opens out onto a private deck facing the mountains beyond. A deck wraps around the entire home, and a patio and fire pit out back offer plenty of outdoor space. Other amenities of note include a guest apartment located above the garage, a billiards room, and a wine cellar that can hold up to 9,000 bottles.

Aside from winter ski season, the retreat is also ideal as a getaway for hikers and mountain bikers alike. “It’s very private and has amazing views, looking at the ridgeline of the surrounding mountains,” Wells told realtor.com. Griffith previously bought the home with her then husband, actor Antonio Banderas, for $3.55 million back in 2002. After the pair divorced in 2015, the family frequented the cabin less and less. The new buyer, Wells revealed to the Denver Post, is not a celebrity, but is a prominent businessperson moving to Aspen with their young family.
