Melbourne Beach Orioles win Brevard Super Senior Softball League with 25-1 record

The Melbourne Beach Orioles won the Fall/Winter 2022-23 league at Liberty Park in Palm Bay in the the Brevard Super Senior Softball League for ages 55+ on Monday, March 20, 2023. They had a 25-1 league record with a run differential of a +184. The team is: Front Row from left: Ernie Pellicotti, Joe Pavlock and Joe Gough. The Melbourne Beach Orioles won the Fall/Winter 2022-23 title in the Brevard Super Senior Softball League for ages 55+ on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Liberty Park in Palm Bay.

They had a 25-1 league record with a run differential of a +184. That broke the previous league record of +182.

The Orioles won their games by an average of seven runs. They came one win shy of the league record of 26-0 set in 2009.

The team consisted of Ernie Pellicotti, Joe Pavlock, Joe Gough, Eddie Gonzales, Mike Strong, Vinny Corridetti, Victor Cordero, Joe Scott, Art Williams, Mike Powderly, Dean Lucera, Pat Trevelino and Steve Trevelino.

Gonzales, Scott, Codero and Pat Trevelino led the team in hitting, all with over .700 averages.

In the championship game against Riverside Realty, the Orioles came back from a 12-3 deficit to win 16-15 thanks to five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Gough, Gonzales and Pavlock had three hits each. Victor Cordero and Mike Powderly added triples.

Art Williams pitched seven innings to earn the victory in the final.
