Listen up, folks—your favorite Bridesmaids actress just shared some hugely empowering advice that’s worth writing down and saving for later. Melissa McCarthy, 50, was going through her old belongings when she found a note she wrote to herself years ago. It featured wisdom that in her words, “still stands,” which is why she shared it on Instagram.

“To Me,” the note began. Then it went on to list eight bits of life advice—from what to eat to what to buy to relationship insights—that she hoped to hold close. “In 10 years you will NOT remember his name,” the first bullet point read. The second: “It’s OK to cry it out.”

On a more light-hearted note, she continued, writing: “For the love of God—buy both pairs of shoes.” (Don’t have to tell us twice!)

One of two lines starred to mark importance read, “PLEASE listen to that little voice inside your head.”

As a comedian, it’s unsurprising that McCarthy managed to squeeze in a joke or two as well. “A walk of shame can be character building,” she wrote.

And as someone who’s had an up and down journey with her body image, she also reminded herself to “just eat the damn cookie!!” and more importantly, to “call Mom.”

Last but not least, McCarthy’s final statement, which was also marked with a star of importance, read: “Go ALL IN—you’ll never get today back.”

She signed the note, “xoxoxo, Me.”

McCarthy’s followers and friends all loved the memory, and agreed with the actress that her down-to-earth words still hold up.

“Yes!!👏👏👏,” Courteney Cox commented. “❤️👏🏽 Spot on,” Hilary Swank wrote. “Facts! Love this😍 especially ‘Buy both pairs of shoes.’ 😂,” another added. “Please write an inspirational book!” someone else wrote. “Daily reminder kind of thing. ❤️ this!”

Hopefully, McCarthy put the note away to find in another few years, because it’s definitely worth revisiting.
