Melrose DPW Worker 'Somewhat Stable,' Fundraiser Nets $23K

MELROSE, MA — An online fundraiser for the DPW worker in intensive care due to coronavirus has raised nearly $23,000 in just over its first day.

Bob DiVola, 56, remains at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, still "battling for his life," according to a GoFundMe. His son, Robert, told Patch Wednesday his father is still on a ventilator but "somewhat stable."

The fundraiser is helping DiVola's wife and two other sons, who are unable to be with him due to quarantine.

"Now we are asking for your support in whatever the future will bring," the GoFundMe said. "Unknown medical bills, continuous expenses and unforeseen health issues are sure to be a part of that. Our family appreciates the prayers, positive thoughts, well wishes, and can feel the wall of love surrounding us."
