Memorial Day 2022: Observances, parades in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties

Airmont: A ceremony at town hall will begin at 10 a.m.

Ardsley: The Memorial Day parade, hosted by Ardsley American Legion, begins at 11:30 a.m. and will step off from the intersection of Ashford Avenue and Park Avenue.

Blauvelt: A ceremony, hosted by the Blauvelt Lions Club will take place at Lions Park at noon. Refreshments will follow.

Brewster: The day, hosted by the Brewster Chamber of Commerce and VFW Post 672, begins at 10:45 a.m. with a parade from the Brewster Fire Department to Electrazone Field. At 11 a.m. a ceremony will begin at Electrazone Field. At 1 p.m. the Memorial Day 5K will begin at Markel Park, registration for the 5K begins at noon. From noon to 4 p.m. a community fair and barbeque will also be held at Markel Park.

Elmsford: A parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. stepping off from Legion Park on East Main Street. The parade will head west on Main Street to South Stone Avenue and end at Village Hall. A service will be held next to Village Hall following the parade. Refreshments to follow the service. The service will be held rain or shine. If it rains, and the parade is canceled, the service will be held under a tent at 11 a.m.

Hillburn: A parade beginning at 9 a.m. will march from Suffern central School District's administration building and make its way to the World War I monument at the corner of Lake Avenue and Fourth Street where a ceremony will be held.

Mount Vernon: A parade will begin at 10 a.m. stepping off from the corner of Park Avenue and 1st Street. The parade turns right onto West 3rd Street, turns right again onto South 4th Avenue, marches along Gramatan Avenue and ending at Hartley Park.

Nanuet: A service hosted by Naurashank Post 794 will begin at 11 a.m. at the Nanuet Veterans Monument rain or shine. The monument is located across from the Nanuet Post Office.

New City: A ceremony hosted by American Legion Post 1682 will begin at 11 a.m. in the American Legion Way parking lot.

New Rochelle: A ceremony will be held at the Memorial Plaza beginning at 10:30 a.m. A second ceremony will be held at noon at Hudson Park.

Nyack: A parade, beginning at 11 a.m., will march down Main Street, stepping off from Franklin Avenue, heading to Broadway, turning to Depew Avenue where it will head into Memorial Park. A ceremony will be held after the parade in the park's lower level at the base of the World War I/World War II monument.

Orangeburg: A gun salute by the James H. Anderson American Legion Post 1199 will take place at 61 Hunt Road at noon.

Palisades/Sparkill: The John M. Perry Post 1044 American Legion of Palisades/Sparkill will host a ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. at the War Monument in Triangle Square, located at the intersection of Route 9W and Closter Road. At 11:30 a.m. the Sparkill parade will march from the firehouse to the Depot Square Town Park for a ceremony.

Palisades Center: The Buffalo Soldiers and Friends of Mount Moor Cemetery will hold a service at the Mount Moor Cemetery outside of the Palisades Center beginning at 11 a.m.

Pearl River: A parade hosted by Pearl River American Legion Post 329 starting at 10:15 a.m. will march from Key Bank to Braunsdorf Park, near the police booth, for a ceremony at 11 a.m.

Piermont: Hosted by Piermont Engine Hose Company #1, a parade will begin at 10 a.m. from VFW Post 7452 and ends at Kennedy Park where a ceremony will take place.

Sloatsburg: A ceremony hosted by the village as well as Sloatsburg American Legion Post 1643 will begin at 10 a.m. at Veterans Park. Following the ceremony, a parade will make its way to the World War I Monument, then continues to Sloatsburg Cemetery where it will end. Refreshments will be served at the Sloatsburg Community Fields Pavilion after the parade.

Spring Valley: A service will be held at Memorial Park, 1 Veterans Drive, starting at 1:30 p.m.

Stony Point: A ceremony will be held at West Main Street's Mount Rest Cemetery at 8:30 a.m. At 9:30 a.m., a parade will march down Jay Street, stopping briefly for a service at Spring Memorial. The parade will continue to Stony Point Town Hall for a third and final memorial service at 10:30 a.m.

St. Paul's Church, Mount Vernon: A commemoration will begin at 11 a.m. The commemoration will also include a rededication of two Civil War soldiers' gravestones.

Suffern: A Memorial Day parade will march starting at 11 a.m. on Lafayette Avenue to the Soldiers Monument where a ceremony will be held.

Tappan: The Post 1271 American Legion, the Volunteer Fire Association and Tappan, will host a fireman's memorial at the Tappan Firehouse at 9:30 a.m. At 11 a.m. a parade will step off from the German Park to the Tappan Triangle, where there will be a wreath laying ceremony.

Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow: The parade will begin at 9 a.m. on Main Street in Tarrytown and continue to Patriots Park where a veterans memorial ceremony will take place.

Valhalla: Hosted by American Legion Post 1038, a parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. stepping off behind Valhalla Methodist Church onto Westlake Drive. The parade then heads south down Columbus Avenue. A ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Village Green gazebo. Refreshments will follow the ceremony.

West Nyack: A parade hosted by West Nyack and the Nanuet Rotary will begin at 11 a.m. along Strawtown Road. The parade begins at Clarkstown Reformed Church and concludes at the West Nyack Hamlet Green.

White Plains: The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. stepping off of Church Street and make its way to Main Street, then on North Broadway. The parade will end at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in North Broadway's White Plains Rural Cemetery. A ceremony will be held at the cemetery.

Yorktown Heights: A parade will march from the town hall's patriot garden beginning at 11 a.m. The parade will proceed to Jack DeVito Veterans Memorial Field and Track's flagpole.
