Memorial Day 2022: Observances, parades in Dutchess, Ulster and Orange counties

May 30

Amenia: 11 a.m. The VFW Post 5444 will host a ceremony at Amenia Veterans Memorial Park.

Beacon: 11 a.m. The ceremony, hosted by Beacon American Legion Post 203, will be held at 413 Main St.

Beekman: 10 a.m. Town Hall and Fire House.

Fishkill: 11 a.m. Hosted by the Village of Fishkill, a parade will begin at Church Street, head to Main Street and finally turn onto Broad Street, where a ceremony will occur.

East Fishkill: 10:45 a.m. A parade and ceremony will take place at the East Fishkill Community Center and East Fishkill Memorial on Route 82 and Beekman Road. The event is hosted by the Town of East Fishkill and American Legion Post 1758.

Hyde Park: 10 a.m. to noon. A Parade begins at Hyde Park Town Hall and ending at the Hyde Park War Memorial. The event is hosted by the Hyde Park Recreation Dept. and Hyde Park American Legion Post 1303.

Liberty: 10:30 a.m. A parade will march down Main Street, ending at the Liberty Veterans Cemetery.

Lumberland: 10 a.m. An observance will be held in front of Lumberland Town Hall, 1054 Proctor Road, Glen Spey.

Maybrook: 9 a.m. A parade will make its way to Myers Veterans Memorial Park for a service.

Millbrook: 11 a.m. A parade and ceremony hosted by Millbrook VFW Post 9008 will happen at Franklin Avenue and Tribute Garden Park.

Newburgh: 10 a.m. The city's parade will march from the corner of West and Third Street, head down West Street toward Broadway, turn onto Liberty Street and finish its route at Washington's Headquarters. After the parade, a ceremony will be held at Washington's Headquarters at 11:30 a.m. At 3 p.m. at the Orange County Veterans Memorial, the intersection of Liberty Street and LeRoy Place, the names of all 820 of Orange County's 20th Century veterans and those who died on Sept. 11, 2001, will be read.

Pine Plains: 10:30 a.m. A parade begins at Pine Plains Firehouse, heads to the Town Clock Memorial and heads to the Evergreen Cemetery where a ceremony will take place. The events are hosted by Pine Plains VFW Post 5519 and Shekomeko American Legion Post 426.

Pleasant Valley: 11 a.m. Hosted by the Pleasant Valley/Millbrook American Legion Post 739, a ceremony will be held at the Pleasant Valley Mill site on Main Street.

Poughkeepsie: 11 a.m. The Dutchess County Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at the Dutchess County War Memorial in John K. Rinaldi Memorial Park, Raymond Avenue and Main Street, Poughkeepsie. The event is hosted by the Dutchess County Division of Veterans Services and County Executive Marc Molinaro.

Red Hook: 10 a.m. Hosted by the Red Hook VFW Post 7765, a parade will march from Red Hook High School to Memorial Square park where a ceremony will be held.

Rhinebeck: 10:30 a.m. The parade's line-up will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. The parade will step off at the corner of Mulberry Street and Platt Avenue, head down Mulberry Street then to East Market Street. A flag raising and wreath laying ceremony will take place at the Dough Boy Statue. Then, the parade will turn south on Route 9, stopping at the U.S. Post Office for another flag raising and will end at the Civil War Monument, where there will be another ceremony and wreath laying. Flag raisings will happen at the Legion Home on Mill Street, there will be refreshments.

Rhinecliff: 9:15 a.m. American Legion Post #429 will hold a salute by firing squad before a flag raising ceremony.

Staatsburg: 8 a.m. A ceremony hosted by community volunteers will take place in Dinsmore Park on Old Post Road.

Tivoli: 11 a.m. A ceremony will take place at Red Church on Route 9G hosted by Harris Smith American Legion Post 524.

Tuxedo: 11:30 a.m. A parade will step off from George Grant High School, makes a stop at the Tuxedo War Memorial in order to lay wreaths, and concludes at St. Mary's where there will be a ceremony. At noon, the 17th Annual Community Picnic will be held at the Tuxedo Park Library with music, a raffle, games, food and more.

Union Vale: 9 a.m. A ceremony will be held On-The-Green, Verbank and is hosted by the Union Vale Fire Company.

Wappingers Falls: 9 a.m. A ceremony hosted by American Legion Post 427 and VFW 5913 at Mesier Park in the Village of Wappingers Falls.

Washingtonville: 10 a.m. A parade will begin in the parking lot of Washingtonville High School, head down Main Street, turn left by Chase Bank, head up by Ahern and end in Memorial Park where there will be a barbecue.

Wawayanda10 a.m. A ceremony will be held at Shannen Park, NY-284, Slate Hill.

World War 1 Tour at Staatsburgh State Historic Site: 1 p.m. To commemorate Memorial Day, Staatsburgh State Historic Site will present its special theme 90-minute tour of the mansion, “World War I and the End of the Gilded Age.” $10; $8 for students, senoors; children under 12 are free. Free admission for veterans, active-duty service people, people in the reserves, and their immediate family members: Once reservations have been made online, service members and veterans can present their ID or proof of service when they arrive at the site.
