Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner.

The holiday, which honors U.S. soldiers who died during service, is observed on May 29 this year. And because Memorial Day was declared a national holiday in 1971, people across the country will have the day off from work or school.

Shoppers planning to use the holiday to run errands will need to do some extra planning since a number of grocery stores, big box stores and restaurants will be running on reduced hours or closed on Monday.

Here’s a list of what will be open and closed on the national holiday.

Are gyms open on Memorial Day?

24 Hour Fitness: 24 Hour Fitness does not include Memorial Day in its list of holidays. Hours vary by location.

Life Time Fitness: All Life Time gyms are open on Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a U.S. Stock Market Holiday, which means the Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will be closed. The markets will reopen Tuesday.

Are stores closed on Memorial Day in the US?

Costco: Costco’s U.S. warehouses will be closed on Memorial Day.

Walmart: Walmart will be open on Memorial Day, although hours vary by location. Shoppers can check on each store’s schedule via Walmart’s online store locator.

Target: Target stores will be operating under normal store business hours, which vary by location. Store hours can be viewed on the "Find a store" feature on Target's website.

Sam’s Club: Sam’s Club will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Plus members and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for club members, according to its website.

PetSmart: Memorial Day hours for PetSmart will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. instead of the usual 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday hours.

Petco: Locations will operate on regular hours on Memorial Day.

Home Depot: Home Depot will be operating during regular store hours.

Lowe’s:  Stores will be open on Memorial Day and will operate under normal business hours.

Goodwill: Hours will vary by location, and some stores may be closed.

Ikea: U.S. stores will be open at normal operating hours from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Dollar General: Dollar General will be open during regular hours, which vary by location.

Are grocery stores open on Memorial Day?

Aldi: Aldi stores operate on limited hours on Memorial Day. Specific hours can be found using the company’s store locator.

Giant Eagle: Stores will be open during normal operating hours. However, pharmacies may close early.

Kroger: Kroger will be open for standard business hours.
