Memorial Day flyovers scheduled by the Oregon Air National Guard for across the state

The Oregon Air National Guard will conduct flyovers in honor of Memorial Day across parts of the state Monday morning. Col. Todd Hofford, commander of the 142 Wing out of the Portland Air National Guard Base, said his unit is proud to conduct the flyovers to honor those who died while fighting in the U.S. military.

“F-15 flyovers from the 142nd Wing and your hometown Air Force are a way for us to pay tribute to American patriots who paid the ultimate sacrifice and their families," Hofford said in a release. "The flights are also a public salute to our local communities whom we appreciate and respect, for their support of our Airmen and all those serving throughout our nation."

All flyovers will be approximately 1,000 feet above ground level and about 400 mph airspeed. The flights could be canceled and times could change due to inclement weather or if there are operational contingencies.

The F-15 Eagle fighter jets are scheduled to conduct flyovers at the following locations at these times:

  • 10 a.m. Wasco.

  • 10:10 a.m. Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.

  • 10:17 a.m. Salem.

  • 10:30 a.m. Reedsport.

  • 10:55 a.m. Astoria.

  • 11:06 a.m. Beaverton.

The Portland Air National Guard Base employs 1,500 Airmen who provide an economic impact of nearly $500 million to the region. The 142nd Wing guards the Pacific Northwest skies from northern California to the Canadian border.
