A heroic MTA motorman is being remembered one year after he died when the subway train he was operating was set on fire.
- Memorial will be held today to mark the somber one-year anniversary of the death of a hero MTA train operator who was killed in an arson fire on his train one year ago. A number 2 train, Garett Gobal was operating, burst into flames as it pulled into 110 street Central Park North Station. As the fire grew in intensity, the conductor and an off duty transit worker refused to leave. They helped the riders get off that train. Today's dedication ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11:30 this morning.
