The Wichita Falls ISD community is mourning the loss on Friday of dyslexia teacher Brandice Dionne Russell Pearce Snowden.

The 44-year-old teacher had worked at Kirby Middle School since 2018, according to a WFISD Facebook post Monday.

"She had a passion for students and made it her goal to make education come to life for them," Diann Davenport, WFISD dyslexia coordinator, said in the post. "She was a valued part of the dyslexia team and will be greatly missed."

A joint memorial service for Snowden and her father, who recently preceded her in death, is set for 10 a.m. July 1 at Emmanuel Baptist Church on 220 Valley View Road, Loop 11. Her father, Charles E. Russell Sr., died June 21.

A 1997 graduate of Rider High School, Snowden obtained a liberal arts degree in 2001 from the University of Texas at Dallas and a master's degree in educational counseling in 2022, according to her obituary.

Snowden was pursuing a doctoral degree in mental health at Houston Baptist University, according to her obituary. A published author, she was writing a series of science-fiction novels and was a very creative person.

She is survived by two daughters, Grace Elizabeth Pearce and Isabell Rose Snowden, and other family members.
