Memphis basketball agrees to home-and-home with Missouri, finalizing deal with Virginia

Memphis basketball officially has agreed to a nonconference home-and-home series with Missouri, a source with knowledge of the Tigers' schedule confirmed to The Commercial Appeal on Friday.

The source requested anonymity because the game had not been announced by either university.

The first game of the series will be played at Missouri on an unspecified date during the 2023-24 season, while the return game at FedExForum will be played during the 2024-25 season, the source said.

In addition, national college basketball reporter Jon Rothstein reported a separate home-and-home agreement with Virginia is being finalized. The Commercial Appeal first reported Memphis was in negotiations with Virginia on a home-and-home series in January. The first game of the Memphis-Virginia series is set to be played at FedExForum during the 2023-24 season, with the return game in Charlottesville to take place the following season.

The Tigers already have nonconference games lined up several other SEC programs, including Vanderbilt (home), Texas A&M (away) and Ole Miss (away). Memphis is also set to visit VCU next season. Penny Hardaway's team will also take part in the Battle 4 Atlantis against a field that includes Arkansas, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas Tech, Stanford, Villanova and Northern Iowa. The bracket for the Battle 4 Atlantis has not been released, but the Tigers will face three of those teams.
