Memphis basketball's John Camden out with foot injury

Memphis freshman John Camden missed Saturday's game against North Carolina Central.

The 6-foot-8 wing, who played two minutes in the Tigers' season-opening win against Tennessee Tech, arrived at FedExForum Saturday sporting a walking boot on his right foot.

Camden's injury isn't viewed as serious and holding him out of the game against North Carolina Central is viewed as a precautionary measure, according to Memphis coach Penny Hardaway.

“John has, like a, I don’t even really know what to call it,” Hardaway said. “But, it’s like the bottom of his foot is injured. We’re trying to heal it up before it gets worse.”

Hardaway added he's hopeful Camden will be available sooner rather than later. The Tigers welcome Saint Louis to Memphis at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

“He does have some time to be off,” Hardaway said. “It’s like a sore on the bottom of his foot. He really can’t walk in a normal shoe, but hopefully it’ll be better by Tuesday.”

The Tigers defeated North Carolina Central 90-51.
