Memphis drivers: I-55 bridge and North Germantown Parkway to close this weekend

There will be two major road closures for Memphis residents this weekend: one in Downtown and one in Germantown.

If you are planning on traveling across the bridge to Arkansas this weekend, make sure to do so going over the I-40 bridge as the I-55 bridge will be closed. In Germantown, the northbound lanes of North Germantown Parkway will be closed for a small portion of the road north of Wolf River Boulevard.

Here is what to know about the two road closures.

Downtown road closure

The Tennessee Department of Transportation announced that the I-55 Bridge would close again this weekend, a month after the last closure. The closure will allow workers to continue to make improvements to the bridge and interchanges around it.

The closure will take place from 5 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 24 and end at 6 a.m. on Monday Feb. 26.

  • I-55 SB will be closed at Bridgeport Road in Arkansas

  • I-55 NB will be closed at South Parkway

  • I-55 SB ramp will be closed

  • Crump Boulevard WB will be closed

Germantown road closure

To continue the repairs to the North Germantown Parkway and Wolf River Boulevard intersection, Germantown will be shutting down part of the northbound lanes on North Germantown Road. The city has posted detour options that include Humphreys Boulevard and Walnut Grove Road. There are two weekends that the city has planned to close this intersection to allow workers to make improvements.

The first closure takes place this weekend from 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23 to 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26.

The second closure will be a week long starting at 8 p.m. Friday, Mar. 1 and ending at 6 p.m. Monday, Mar. 11.
