Memphis football gets commitment from JUCO tight end Anthony Landphere

Just before the start of the early signing period Wednesday, Memphis football added a commitment from three-star tight end Anthony Landphere.

Landphere, who played at College of San Mateo in California, is the first junior college prospect in the Tigers' 2022 class. He initially signed with San Diego State out of high school.

The 6-foot-5, 253-pound Landphere is ranked the No. 3 tight end in 247Sports' junior college rankings. He also had offers from Florida State and Indiana.

Memphis offered him a scholarship last Sunday, and he took his official visit on Tuesday.

Tight end is a position where Memphis needs help next season with Sean Dykes playing his last game in the Hawaii Bowl. Dykes' 48 catches were second on the team and the only other tight end to catch a pass was Caden Prieskorn with four catches.

Memphis has 13 players in its 2022 class, which is ranked 64th nationally and third in the AAC according to 247Sports national rankings. Most are expected to sign Wednesday.
