Memphis football's Marquavius Weaver, Ira Henry no longer with program

Memphis senior running back Marquavius Weaver and sophomore offensive lineman Ira Henry are no longer with the program, an athletics spokesperson confirmed Saturday. Weaver and Henry weren't on the roster ahead of the Tigers' home opener against Arkansas State.

Weaver, a former walk-on who attended Bartlett High School, appeared in 36 games over four seasons. He was placed on scholarship in spring 2021 and rushed for 424 yards with four touchdowns in his career.

Weaver started against Navy in 2020 and rushed for a career-high 94 yards against Stephen F. Austin that same season.

Henry transferred to Memphis in January after spending two seasons at Florida State but wasn't listed on the depth chart for the first two games. He participated in spring and preseason practice but wasn't with the Tigers' traveling party at Navy last week.

He's the second Tigers offensive lineman that arrived via transfer to leave the program this season. Devontae Dobbs, who transferred after the 2020 season from Michigan State, is also no longer with the Tigers after competing in spring practice.
