Memphis Grizzlies' David Roddy throws down ferocious poster dunk on Clippers' Ivica Zubac

David Roddy's got the popular nickname of "Big Body Roddy" by some Memphis Grizzlies fans. He put that name to use Friday with a thunderous poster dunk against the Los Angeles Clippers.

In the second quarter, Roddy tracked down an offensive rebound then jumped full body into Clippers center Ivica Zubac before throwing down a one-handed dunk over him. Fans at FedExForum roared as it punctuated the Grizzlies rallying behind their second unit from a 20-point deficit.

"There was a runway so I tell my team if I have a runway, I'll probably try to extend," Roddy said after the Grizzlies 108-94 win Friday. "I used him as leverage as well so I'm glad I made it. No one's really seen me do that so I keep it in their ear like hey, I can get up there a bit."

Roddy said he almost lost the ball trying to dunk it so he was glad he didn't. He also caught coach Taylor Jenkins by surprise.

"I know he's got some bounce and he's got some force but that was a pretty epic dunk for sure. Once he gets a runway, watch out," Jenkins said.

Roddy's had his highlight moments during his rookie season but this was as nasty a dunk as he's had all season. It jolted some life into the crowd after a lackluster Grizzlies start where they had just 14 points with one minute left in the first quarter.

Roddy finished with four points but he had the play of the night as the Grizzlies improved to 49-28. They head to Chicago to face the Bulls on Sunday before their regular season home finale Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
