Memphis Grizzlies' Dillon Brooks ejected for flagrant foul vs. Golden State Warriors

Dillon Brooks' stay in Game 2 wasn't long as the Memphis Grizzlies forward was ejected for a flagrant foul-2 on Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II in the first quarter.

Brooks was winding up on a fast-break by Payton and hit him across the head, sending Payton to the floor with 9:08 remaining in the period. Payton was slow to get up and after the officials reviewed it, Brooks immediately left the Grizzlies bench before FedExForum heard the decision

The crowd reacted with a loud "oooooh" seeing a replay of the foul while it was being reviewed. Payton left the game and will not return as the Warriors ruled him out with a left elbow injury that required x-rays.

It's the second game this series with a player ejected for a flagrant foul. Draymond Green was ejected in the second quarter of Game 1 for a similarly called foul on Brandon Clarke.

Green also left the game briefly after taking an elbow to the face by Xavier Tillman in the first quarter. Warriors coach Steve Kerr said on TNT after the period that the Grizzlies play "wasn't physical, that was dirty."

Brooks was off to a tough start Tuesday, missing his first three shots. He also was responsible guarding Stephen Curry. Per NBA.com's matchup stats, he held Curry to 0-for-7 shooting as his main defender.

At shootaround, Brooks said facing Curry was his top priority. Now the Grizzlies will have to turn to others to contain the Warriors' All-Star guard.
