Memphis Grizzlies had historically horrid start vs Lakers in Game 3 of playoff series

The Memphis Grizzlies' trash-talking after their Game 2 win over the Los Angeles Lakers was all for naught, if the first-quarter scoreboard in Game 3 is any indicator.

The Grizzlies faced the largest first-quarter deficit in NBA playoff history after the Lakers raced to a 35-9 lead at Crypto.com Arena on Saturday. Memphis' nine points also were the fewest in a quarter in a game in franchise history.

Even with Ja Morant on the court, who returned for Game 3 after being a game-time decision with a right hand injury in Games 1 and 2, the Grizzlies had no response to LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the rest of the Lakers. The best-of-seven series is tied 1-1.

The Grizzlies shot just 3-for-25 from the field and 1-for-10 from beyond the 3-point arc in the first quarter.

Dillon Brooks, the prime suspect of all the trash talk after calling LeBron James "old" after Game 2, was 0-for-4 in the opening quarter. He was greeted with frequent boos and jeers from the sellout Lakers crowd every time he touched the ball.
