The Memphis Grizzlies have survived a stretch of bad news that included injuries and suspensions, but now the team is getting more good news.

The Grizzlies (44-27) have won six of their last seven games. After the Sacramento Kings lost on Tuesday night against the Boston Celtics, Memphis is two games ahead of the Kings in loss column for the No. 2 seed. Jaren Jackson Jr. has looked like one of the NBA's most dominant players during that stretch, and none of that may be the most encouraging news going into Wednesday night.

Ja Morant is expected to make his return tonight against the Houston Rockets after missing the past nine games. Morant was suspended for eight games due to conduct detrimental to the team after he brandished a gun in an Instagram Live video recorded from his personal account. He didn't play on Monday night since it was his first day back around the team, and the Grizzlies gave Morant a ramp-up period.

Morant's return makes the Grizzlies a deeper team that is now capable of having a point guard on the floor at all times. Morant will be on a minutes limit Wednesday.

Houston (18-54) has a promising young core, but it has been one of the NBA's worst teams. The Rockets are at the bottom of the NBA in points, point differential and assists per game.

Wednesday is the first of two meetings at FedExForum between the Rockets and Grizzlies over the next three days.
