Memphis Grizzlies score vs. Minnesota Timberwolves: Live updates

MINNEAPOLIS — The Memphis Grizzlies have had a difficult road trip though their first four games, and things won't get much easier on Friday. Memphis is taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves, another team in the West that has played well on its home floor.

The Grizzlies (31-17) and Timberwolves are meeting as part of the NBA's "rivalry week" schedule. Memphis won a first-round playoff series against Minnesota (25-25) last season, but the Timberwolves' roster looks much different.

Starters Patrick Beverley and Jarred Vanderbilt were shipped out in a trade to acquire Rudy Gobert. Wolves All-Star big man Karl-Anthony Towns is currently out with an injury. Former Grizzlies forward Kyle Anderson has stepped into a starter role for Minnesota and had one of his most productive stretches as an NBA player.

Memphis will be without John Konchar and Steven Adams against the Timberwolves. Desmond Bane is listed as questionable due to right knee soreness.

While both teams rank in the top six in both steals and blocks, the Grizzlies are the NBA's top rebounding team and the Wolves are 27th. With Gobert's recent return and Adams being sidelined, it will be interesting to see who can control the glass.

Anthony Edwards has shined in the absence of Towns. He leads the Wolves with 24.5 points per game.

Minnesota has been one of the NBA's best teams at defending Ja Morant due to its length. The Wolves won the last meeting against the Grizzlies while holding Morant to 8-for-20 shooting.

The Grizzlies and Wolves are 1-1 in their first two meetings this season.
