Winners and Whiners: Suns will cover against Grizzlies
It writes: "I’m expecting Devin Booker to be the biggest playmaker in this game. He’s coming off a loss on a night where he got held to only 13 points and a sad 26.3-point shooting percentage. He’ll come out like a raging bonfire in this one. I’m laying the points and taking the Suns."
Stat Salt: Take the Suns to cover vs. Grizzlies
Jason Raffoul writes: "Look for Chris Paul and company to get back on track and take care of business at home against the Grizzlies."
Action Network: Take the Grizzlies with the points against Suns
Matt Moore writes: "Phoenix is getting too much respect here. If no one else is added on either sides to protocols, I’ll take the points with Memphis. A note on the total: I have this projected at 212.5 which is a solid under number, but I’m not playing it. Phoenix plays at the third-fastest pace, and while their transition defense is best in the league per possession, they give up the most transition opportunities in the league. It’s often back-and-forth and Memphis is willing to play that style. I lean towards the over but won’t play it because of Memphis’ improved defense as of late, Crowder and Melton’s absences, and my having the number lower."
Picks and Parlays: Suns 116, Grizzlies 107
It writes: "Phoenix was defeated by Golden State on Saturday but will bounce back with a victory at home against Memphis on Monday. The Suns have covered the number in four of the last six. Phoenix has eight players that average double-figures in scoring, which makes it hard for opponents to focus on any one player. The Suns had won six consecutive games before losing to Golden State on Saturday. Memphis has lost each of his last three and has failed to cover the number in four of the last six versus an opponent from the Western Conference."
Doc's Sports: Go with the Suns to cover vs. Grizzlies
Guy Bruhn writes: "The Phoenix defense concedes 33.2% on three-point shots (367 of 1,105) and their opponents are converting on 74.0% of their free throw shots. They give up 22.3 assists and 45.6 total rebounds per game, which is ranked 6th and 19th in the league. The Suns defensively are ranked 4th in the NBA in points given up per game with 104.4. They are able to force 15.3 TO's per game and allow teams to shoot 43.4% from the floor (3rd in basketball)."
Tony's Picks: Suns 106, Grizzlies 107
It writes: "The NBA pick is the Phoenix Suns. The Phoenix Suns may have lost recently to the Warriors, but they still have been solid as a team with only 3 losses in 28 games. The team has been playing great offense with 8 players scoring double-digits. Memphis broke their 3-game losing streak in their recent win but has failed to cover the number in 4 of its last 6 against an opponent in the Western Conference. "
Cappers Picks: Grizzlies 108, Suns 105
Tamberlyn Richardson writes: "It’s not typical for the Suns to lose consecutive games. In fact, they’ve only done it once this season but the Grizzlies are an opponent who could shift that stat. The Suns can have issues with lengthy or athletic opponents especially combined with stellar defense. At their best, the Grizzlies are all those things. The other factor is the virus – once one player on the team contracts it, typically several more follow within days. Something else I’ve noted is many players perform below-average in the game prior to testing positive. So while I might hedge on who gets the “W” I like Memphis to keep it closer than eight points and maybe even steal the “W”."
Odds Shark: Suns will cover against Grizzlies at home
It writes: "The Suns win often and they also win big – five of their last six victories have been by 12 points or more. Crowder just entered health and safety protocols but the team has a nearly perfect bill of health otherwise. With Booker back and everyone else still rolling, Phoenix could turn this into a blowout."
Sports Chat Place: Go with the Grizzlies with the points vs. Suns
Peter Tran writes: "The Grizzlies will be missing a few players in this one including Dillon Brooks and De’Anthony Melton who have both entered the league’s health and safety protocols, while the Suns will be almost at full strength except for Jae Crowder. These two teams have already met once this season with the Suns winning by 119-94 back on Nov 12, but the Grizzlies are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games and I think they are good enough to keep this one to single digits."
