Memphis leading rusher Brandon Thomas out vs. SMU due to injury

Memphis leading rusher Brandon Thomas is out for Saturday's game against SMU (11 a.m., ESPNU) due to an unspecified injury.

Thomas did not take part in pregame drills with the other running backs. He was dressed in sweats while the others were in shorts.

This is the first game Thomas has missed this season. He's third in the AAC with 661 rushing yards and fourth with eight touchdowns.

Rodrigues Clark, who has missed the past two games, did participate with the other running backs during drills and during warm-ups. If he does start, it will be Clark's second start of the season.

Quarterback Seth Henigan threw lightly with the other quarterbacks during drills. He remains a game-time decision.

Defensive lineman John Cartwright was dressed and participated during warm-ups after not playing vs. UCF.
