The Landers Auto Group has completed the acquisition of King Cotton Ford and King Cotton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Covington. King Cotton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram will be renamed Landers Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram North and remain at 959 U.S. 51 North. King Cotton Ford will be renamed Landers Ford North and remain at 965 Highway 51 North, Covington. This location will be the third Landers Ford dealership in the region.

Neel-Schaffer recently announced Said El Said has joined the firm and will serve as Transportation Systems manager based in the firm’s Nashville office. He recently received a doctorate in transportation philosophy from Vanderbilt University and joins Neel-Schaffer following an 18-year career with the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Transportation Systems manager is a new position for Neel-Schaffer, created to better serve clients as transportation technology rapidly evolves and now includes such applications as connected vehicles, unmanned aerial systems (drones), and smart infrastructure. El Said is a registered Professional Engineer in Tennessee and a 2019 graduate of the TDOT Executive Leadership Academy. He earned a Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee and a Doctorate in transportation philosophy from Vanderbilt University.

Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis has earned the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain  ̶  MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for a sixth year in a row. The award recognizes Baptist Memphis’ commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients according to the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association’s clinical standards of care. Baptist Memphis is one of only 240 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor. To receive the Chest Pain  ̶  MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award, Baptist Memphis has demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain  ̶  MI Registry for two consecutive years (2020 and 2021), and performed at the highest level for specific performance measures. Full participation in the registry immerses hospitals in a robust quality improvement process using data to drive improvements in adherence to guideline recommendations and overall quality of care provided to heart attack patients.

Junior Achievement of Memphis and the Mid-South is launching Startup Park by FedEx, a program for fifth- and sixth-grade students across the region to engage in early-stage entrepreneurship education, with a focus on minority and women-owned businesses. Via this hands-on program, which begins in January, students will meet Black, brown, and women entrepreneurs whose businesses are in the first stages of development and who represent diverse industries and communities across the Mid-South. “There’s simply no replacement for a student seeing someone who looks like them succeeding in business,” says Jason Campbell, Junior Achievement board member and VP of operations and ops system support for FedEx Custom Critical. Startup Park by FedEx is in Junior Achievement’s new experiential learning center at 516 Tillman in Binghampton.

Recently, IMC Companies, one of the nation's largest marine drayage companies, held a ribbon cutting and open house for its new corporate headquarters at 1305 Schilling Boulevard in Collierville. The 75,000-square-foot facility houses 375+ team members.

River City Capital announced a $1.7 million grant from the University of Memphis, as part of the largest grant in U of M history. In June, the region’s only homegrown CDFI moved to its new office space in the midtown Gilmore building. Community LIFT, the parent company of River City Capital announced that the grant will help alleviate key barriers to self-sufficiency for minority-owned businesses in West Tennessee. As part of the largest grant in the University of Memphis, history will be a $25 million Tennessee Opportunity Pilot Initiative (TOPI) Implementation Grant for Growing Relational and Generational Wealth for West Tennessee Households (GROWWTH).

Regional One Health announced First Horizon Foundation donated $300,000 to ONE Health, a program that identifies vulnerable patients who frequently visit the ER or have numerous inpatient stays and addresses their medical needs as well as their social needs such as housing, food, and transportation to uplift their lives. The gift will span more than three years to supplement the salaries of a registered nurse case manager and licensed clinical social worker within the Complex Care Team. Care Team members work directly with ONE Health patients from the time they enroll until they are able to manage their own health needs and effectively utilize community assets for support.

Hollywood Feed, a top-tier natural and holistic pet food, and product retailer, was named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Best Retailers for 2022. Moreover, Hollywood Feed, which has 180 locations across 19 states and is based in Memphis, ranked number one in the pet care category. The 2022 America’s Best Retailers rankings were identified from the results of an independent survey of more than 10,000 U.S. customers who have shopped at the retailers in-person in the past three years.
