Here's a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:

The Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association recently named its 2023-24 Executive Board. Also, six members-at-large were also elected to represent East, West and Middle Tennessee. Among them were Paige Underwood of Brooks Road Animal Hospital in Memphis and Madeleine Hendrix of GoodVets Germantown. Susan Moon, DVM, Brooks Road Animal Hospital, Memphis, is the American Veterinary Medical Association delegate.

A promotion occurred at Process & Process Inc. when David Hollis took the reins as vice president of Sales and Marketing on April 1. Hollis started his career at the company in 1985 in the shipping/receiving department. He left the company in 1994 and returned in 2018 as sales manager. He is now a company vice president of Process & Power, and he will also serve on the board of advisors.

Lori Green has joined the Down Syndrome Association of Memphis & the Mid-South as its new Executive Director. She joined the company upon the retirement of then-director Martine Hobson. She began her career as a social worker for Arlington Developmental Center and Bolivar Hospital, working extensively with individuals with disabilities.

Dr. Shermita Mitchell has joined Eye Specialty Group of Memphis, which primarily focuses on medical and surgical retina management. She received her optometry degree from Western University College of Optometry in Pomona, California. Mitchell completed her Residency in Primary Care with an emphasis in Ocular Disease at The Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. She currently sees patients at Eye Specialty Group's Memphis and Collierville locations.

DCA announced new and elevated roles to its staff. Abbie Gordon, who has been with DCA since 2016, assumes the role of vice president of Account Service and Digital Strategy. As the new lead of the digital department, she develops and executes overall digital marketing strategy and leverages data to ensure campaigns are connected to overarching business goals. Katie Elizabeth Carpenter, who just celebrated one year with the firm, has been named Account Manager. Annelise Danielson has been hired as Project Manager. Ava Richardson, Account Coordinator, is also new to the company.

Attorney Madeline Nolan has joined the law firm of Moskovitz, McGhee, Brown, Cohen & Moore. Nolan earned her juris doctor from the University of Mississippi. She previously served as an associate attorney for Kay Farese Turner & Associates since 2011. Her focus primarily will be on family law matters.

Dr. Eric Henager, associate professor of Spanish at Rhodes College, has been selected as a Fulbright U.S. Scholar for 2023-24 for Ecuador. The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s international educational exchange program, and its Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award sends American scholars, artists, faculty and professionals abroad to lecture and/or conduct research for up to a year.

Baptist Memorial Health Care has announced leadership changes for its hospital operations following the retirement announcement of longtime Vice President of Metro Operations Randy King. Chris Anderson, formerly VP of operations for Mississippi, will be promoted to VP of operations for Baptist’s metro market; James Grantham, chief executive officer/administrator of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County and Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville, has been promoted to VP of operations for Baptist’s Mississippi market; Brad Parsons, VP/CEO of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis, will be promoted to VP of operations for Baptist’s West Tennessee and Arkansas markets; and Derick Ziegler, VP of affiliate integration and West Tennessee operations, will be promoted to VP/chieftransformation officer, a newly created role for the organization. These changes were completed by April as King retired on April 14.

Noteworthy

Rhodes College has established a $1 million endowment thanks to the generosity of Patricia and Charles Robertson Jr. This is the second gift of a million dollars or more announced by Rhodes. The Charles and Patricia Robertson Biology Faculty Research Fund will provide $50,000 annually to the Department of Biology to fund new and ongoing faculty-led research projects.
