Here's a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:

Baker Donelson attorney Mary Wu Tullis has been selected to participate in the 2022 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows Program, an intensive, yearlong professional development program that mentors the legal industry's diverse leaders of tomorrow. Designed for lawyers with eight to 15 years of experience, the program connects high-potential attorneys with leading general counsel and managing partners, and their peers for mentoring and career guidance. She is a shareholder in the firm's Memphis office and previously was an LCLD Pathfinders Program participant. Tullis is one of 426 Fellows named to the 2022 class. Fellows are selected by the general counsel and managing partners at LCLD member corporations and law firms. LCLD is an organization of more than 400 corporate chief legal officers and law firm managing partners.

E. Franklin Childress Jr., an attorney with Baker Donelson, was elected to a second two-year term on the board of directors of the American College of Bankruptcy Foundation (ACBF). He is a shareholder in the firm's Memphis office and a member of its Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy Group and has extensive experience in the areas of bankruptcy, representing secured and unsecured creditors in reorganization and liquidation cases. Childress was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy in 2013. The ACBF was established to promote the ends of justice through educational and charitable activities.

Financial Federal Bank announced two new team members: Semma Quran as Deposit Specialist and Eric Bartolotta as Senior Loan Assistant. Quran will serve as the primary contact for deposit customers in the organization's non-cash banking environment. Before joining Financial Federal Bank, she was a personal banker and teller with Renasant Bank. Bartolotta will work with the commercial banking team as a senior loan assistant, a new position created to assist with maturities and renewals of the bank’s commercial loans. Bartolotta was previously senior loan assistant and office manager for Community Bank in Memphis.

Eleven of Baker Donelson's employees have been elected shareholders across the firm's operations including Blair B. Evans of the firm's Memphis office. As a member of its Financial Services Litigation and Compliance Group and chair of the Firm's Auto Finance Team, Evans is a creditors' rights and business litigator, representing lenders and special servicers in commercial loan recovery matters, including receiverships and other workout strategies. She has tried more than 20 jury trials in addition to innumerable bench trials, and she served as a deputy prosecuting attorney before entering private practice. Evans is an active member of Baker Donelson's Women's Initiative, currently serving as the Alternative Work Arrangements co-chair. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas.

Harris Shelton Hanover Walsh announced that Sara M. Garner has been promoted to a Member of the group. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Memphis. Before joining Harris Shelton as an attorney, Garner worked as an extern in the legal departments at Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Crone Law Firm recently named attorney Edward Rolwes as managing attorney for the firm’s St. Louis office. The employment law firm expanded its practice to Missouri in 2021 in an effort to offer legal representation to employees, executives and entrepreneurs in St. Louis and the surrounding area. Rolwes has extensive experience representing clients in complex commercial and professional liability litigation in both state and federal courts and before arbitration and state administrative and disciplinary tribunals. He is a native of St. Louis and earned his law degree from Notre Dame. Rolwes has practiced law for more than 20 years and is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois.

NOTEWORTHY

Memphis City Council has approved the appointment of Captain Albert T. Glenn to the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) Board of Commissioners. Glenn, who was nominated by Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland, will complete the term vacated by Jim Keras, who is stepping down from the MSCAA board after 15 years of service. Glenn’s term will end Dec. 31, 2025. He is a retired FedEx pilot whose career at the company spanned 44 years, during which he served in various management positions including Flight Duty Officer, Chief Pilot and Managing Director of Global Operations.
