Baker Donelson attorney Jerrick D. Murrell has been named a Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Pathfinder for 2023. The Pathfinder program provides participants with the opportunity to learn from top leaders in the legal profession as well as career development experts. The seven-month program is designed to train high-performing attorneys who are early in their careers on foundational leadership and relationship-building skills. Murrell is an associate in the firm's Memphis office.

Trezevant continuing care retirement community announced additions to its board and foundation board of trustees. Bob Craddock has joined the Trezevant board of directors, and Martha Boyd has joined the board of the Trezevant Foundation as a trustee. As a partner at Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, now-retired attorney Craddock served as the co-chair of Wyatt’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution Service Team and as a member of the firm’s executive committee. Boyd previously served as director of development for the Trezevant Foundation after having served as assistant development director.

Tracey Harris Branch recently joined ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as Senior Director of Security and Safety. Branch brings extensive knowledge and experience in public safety to the organization. She retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation after nearly 25 years as a special agent and supervisory special agent.

Chip Washington, host of WLOK’s "Let’s Talk About It" program, has assumed additional duties at WLOK as director of community relations. Washington, a veteran communications specialist, will help further WLOK’s commitment to serve the greater Memphis community. Washington has served as a television journalist and as public information officer for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, senior communications specialist for Memphis Light, Gas & Water, and public information officer the Shelby County Health Department.

Harris Shelton attorney Edward J. "Ed" McKenney Jr. has received the 2023 Distinguished Municipal Attorney Award from the Tennessee Municipal Attorneys Association. Award recipients are selected by the association’s membership. McKenney has been with the firm since 1979, focusing his practice on municipal law, employment law defense, education law, business litigation, personal injury and contract disputes. He is a former president and longstanding member of the association.

The law firm of Baker Donelson named Whitney M. Dowdy as chair of its New Litigator Group. The group comprises approximately 30 litigation associates across the firm's footprint in their early years of practice. New litigators work on a variety of cases, hone their skills through additional training and mentoring, and sharpen their focus on particular fields of practice. At the end of their tenure in the New Litigator Group, these associates will join one of Baker Donelson's more than 30 substantive practice groups. Dowdy is a shareholder in the Memphis office.

Rob Carter, executive vice president of FedEx Information Services and chief information officer of FedEx Corporation, has been appointed to the University of Memphis Board of Trustees by Gov. Bill Lee. Carter will replace Alan B. Graf Jr., who has been a member of the inaugural University of Memphis Board of Trustees for six years. Carter is a member of the six-person Executive Committee, which plans and executes FedEx Corporation’s strategic business activities. He also serves as the co-president and co-CEO of FedEx Services. Carter joined FedEx in 1993 and has more than 40 years of systems development and implementation experience. He earned his master's degree from the University of South Florida.

NOTEWORTHY

Rhodes College has established a $1 million endowment thanks to the generosity of Patricia and Charles Robertson Jr. This is the second gift of a million dollars or more announced by Rhodes. The Charles and Patricia Robertson Biology Faculty Research Fund will provide $50,000 annually to the Department of Biology to fund new and ongoing faculty-led research projects. Charles Robertson is a Rhodes trustee and 1965 alumnus of Rhodes.
