Here's a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:

Neel-Schaffer announced Joey Hudnall has been named president and chief executive officer of the firm, effective immediately. He succeeds Hibbett Neel who co-founded the firm in 1983. Neel will remain active with the company, continuing to serve as the chairman of the firm’s board of directors and will continue to direct the firm’s vision and strategy. Hudnall has served as the firm’s chief operations officer since 2009 and has worked for Neel-Schaffer since 1995. Also at Neel-Schaffer, Sean Mayer joined the firm and will serve as a transportation senior project manager based in the firm’s Nashville office. Mayer has more than 22 years of experience in the planning and design of major transportation improvement and facility projects in the San Francisco Bay area. He is well versed in permitting processes and project development procedures. He will manage major highway construction projects for the company. Mayer is a registered Professional Engineer.

Fifteen officers with Boyle Investment Company recently were promoted within the company:

  • Matt Hayden is now chief financial officer and co-chief operating officer. He joined Boyle in 2014 and is responsible for all financial accounting and reporting, tax planning and compliance and company operations. Hayden previously was senior vice president with Wunderlich Securities.

  • Mark J. Halperin, executive vice president and co-chief operating officer, joined Boyle in 1973 and directs company operations. He also oversees leasing, management and development of Boyle’s 3.7 million-square-foot Memphis portfolio.

  • Kathy Jones Pampuro, executive vice president, joined Boyle in 1986 and is responsible for the leasing of all office properties as well as maintaining and creating tenant relationships.

  • Les Binkley, senior vice president, joined Boyle in 2007 and oversees activities pertaining to office, retail, mixed-use and multi-family development.

  • Tom Hutton, senior vice president, joined Boyle in 2001 and is a commercial leasing agent handling the leasing and management of office properties.

  • Harold Moss, senior vice president, joined Boyle in 2020 and oversees the property management of Boyle’s Memphis portfolio.

  • Debra Shelton, senior vice president/treasurer, joined Boyle in 1982 and has been involved in all accounting-related aspects of our business.

  • Gary Thompson, senior vice president, joined Boyle in 1995 and is responsible for acquiring, planning, developing, selling and managing residential properties.

  • Kelly Barlow, vice president, joined Boyle in 1999 and oversees the company’s information technology department for the Memphis and Nashville offices.

  • Dena Forbes, vice president, joined Boyle in 2004 and is responsible for the management of office and retail properties located in Ridgeway Center and Schilling Farms.

  • Jerralee Hopper, vice president, joined Boyle in 2020 and is responsible for property management of the Triad Centre and Ridgeway Center properties.

  • Samuel “Bo” Lessley, vice president/assistant treasurer, joined Boyle in 2021 and is responsible for tax compliance and reporting for Boyle’s multiple real estate entities.

  • Theresa Locastro, vice president and secretary, joined Boyle in 1981 and currently oversees the human resources department.

  • Sharon Mitchell-Cocita, vice president, joined Boyle in 2020 and has nearly 40 years of experience in property management.

  • Jason Walters, vice president, joined Boyle in 2018 and is development manager for the land development department.

NOTEWORTHY

Teach For America Memphis honored the nominees of this year's Barbara Rosser Hyde Alumni Leadership Award Awards at its fifth Grits & GRIND ceremony on May 14 at the Memphis Botanic Garden. The ceremony also celebrated all TFA Memphis alumni and all that they do to serve the Memphis community. The nominees are:

  • Elisabeth Bogart (Memphis ’17), a social studies teacher at Humes Middle School and an instructor on global issues at the Tennessee Governor’s School for International Studies.

  • Koedy Harper (Memphis ’17), started the Student Senate at Kate Bond Elementary to equip third- through fifth-graders with civic leadership and advocacy skills and in February he transitioned out of the classroom to serve in the Shelby County Mayor's Office of Education as the Coordinator of Education Initiatives & P-12 Policy Advisor.

  • Kristle Hodges-Johnson (Memphis ’10), is the executive director of University High School, a laboratory school on the campus of University of Memphis, which will launch in the fall. She has more than 10 years of experience in education beginning in the classroom as a high school English teacher in her placement school, serving as a department chair and literacy coach, and transitioning into a principal role at Freedom Preparatory Academy High School.

  • Brittany Monda (Memphis ’10), is a 2010 Corps Member who started teaching middle school science in South Memphis, moved to a public charter school focusing on all aspects of running a school and transitioned to Memphis-Shelby County Schools, where she is now an assistant superintendent overseeing approximately 20,000 students in 56 charter schools.

  • Andrea Wensits (Memphis ’12), worked as a learning specialist at the University of California, Berkeley, where she focused on working with student-athletes and helping navigate their transition from high school to college. Wensits took her learning back to Memphis, joining Memphis Inner City Rugby, where she could reach more students who did not have the same luxuries that Division I athletes received. Since joining MICR, Wensits has developed holistic programming focused on supporting alumni beyond high school by helping them with academic support, paid job opportunities, mental health support, and leadership development.

The Barbara Rosser Hyde Alumni Leadership Award is a $1,000 award honoring five Teach For America alumni in Memphis who are doing innovative work to disrupt systems of inequality in Memphis. The award celebrates profound acts of leadership.
