After a 48-year career with Baptist Memorial Health Care, Baptist Health Sciences University President Betty Sue McGarvey has announced her plans to retire on June 30. McGarvey began her health care career with Baptist in 1975 as a nursing student at the Baptist School of Nursing. She went on to work with Baptist as a staff nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Medical Center, an instructor and professor at the Baptist School of Nursing and later the Baptist College of Health Sciences from 1983 to 2012, and as provost of the Baptist College from 2003 to 2005. She was appointed president of Baptist College of Health Sciences in 2005.

Juanita Ortiz, Jenessa Spears and Sarahbeth Winn have received promotions at Consilience Group.

  • Ortiz, organizational development portfolio manager, has addressed needs related to education, income, health and human rights. She has an Executive Master's degree and a Certificate from Georgetown’s Executive Nonprofit Management Program.

  • Spears, learning and quality improvement portfolio manager at Consilience Group, is a medical and cultural anthropologist with 10 years of professional experience. She is an expert in the design and adaptation of evaluation tools, designing institutional accountability structures, and developing infrastructure to drive equitable impact and a culture of learning. She holds a Master's degree in Anthropology from the University of Memphis.

  • Winn, alignment portfolio manager at Consilience Group, brings more than 20 years of experience as a systems designer and planner. She is an expert in identifying and correcting system vulnerabilities and bridging systems across multiple agencies and organizations for child and family-centered services. She has a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of California Los Angeles.

Lehman-Roberts and sister company Memphis Stone & Gravel announced the appointments of Bobby Runions to Assistant Superintendent of Plant Maintenance and Darrell “Woody” Franklin to Assistant Superintendent of Construction. Runions will serve as a member of the Production & Manufacturing Division. Franklin will support the grading, milling and paving enterprise for the Batesville area operations. He joined the family of companies in 1999 as a laborer.

Think Rubix, the Mid-South’s leading minority-owned social impact firm, announced has acquired 3i Creative Communications, a marketing and design agency based in Memphis. With the acquisition, Think Rubix becomes Think Rubix & Co., and 3i becomes a TR & Co. subsidiary.

The Collision Repair Education Foundation announced its newly appointed Executive Committee, which consists of seven industry professionals who are dedicated to supporting the future of the industry through engagement with collision schools and students. New to Committee are Steve Schmidt (State Farm), chair; Brenda Hogen (Parts Trader), vice chair; Stacy Bartnik (Intertek), vice chair; Doug Irish (Fayetteville Technical Community College), secretary; trustees at large Ryan West (Geico) and Mark Helvenston (IAA Inc.); and Tom Wolf (PPG Industries), immediate past chair.

Tennessee Business Roundtable promoted Jared Felkins as its new communications and member events manager. At the Roundtable, he'll work to increase the overall visibility and awareness of the organization, as well as plan membership events and strengthen communication channels between the Roundtable, over 50 member companies, and the organization’s external stakeholders in business, government, education and the nonprofit sector.

Harkavy Shainberg Kaplan announced Sorelle Dattel has joined the law firm as an associate. She focuses her legal practice in the areas of estate planning, civil litigation and transactional matters. Dattel received her Juris Doctorate magna cum laude from the University of Memphis while simultaneously receiving a Master of Business Administration. While in law school, she received six CALI awards, which are given to the student with the highest grade in the class.
