Here's a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:

Dustey Walley, with BankTennessee since 2018, was promoted to community president recently. He was previously senior vice president and a commercial lender. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading and growing the East Shelby County market, which includes East Memphis, Germantown and Collierville. Walley has worked for various banks in Jackson and Harrison counties along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mississippi State University and taught banking classes in high schools on the Coast. He will continue to work out of the main office at 1125 W. Poplar in Collierville.

Matt White of the law firm Baker Donelson has earned the Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). The certification validates knowledge of privacy-related issues and practices in the context of the design and implementation of information and communication technologies. White is co-chair of the firm's Financial Services Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Team. A Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US, CIPP/E) and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), he counsels clients on all aspects of privacy and cybersecurity, including litigation and breach response, privacy compliance, transactional diligence and the defense of regulatory actions. His practice focuses on representing financial institutions including banks, credit unions, insurance companies, investment advisory firms, broker-dealer firms and other highly regulated businesses.

RBG Wealth Advisors, a locally owned, fee-only, independent wealth advisory firm based in Memphis, announced its grand opening and suite of dynamic wealth management and advisory services. The company was created through a strategic partnership with Reynolds, Bone & Griesbeck, an accounting firm with a reputation for providing professional services for more than 100 years. RBGWA is led by Greg Davis and Tim Ellis, who are Certified Public Accountants and Certified Financial Planners. The new business expands upon RBG’s tax and accounting experience. RBG Wealth Advisors is located at 5100 Wheelis Drive, Suite 300.

Bass, Berry & Sims announced Scott B. Shanker and Marianne C. Garner have joined the firm’s nationally ranked Healthcare Practice as a members of the firm. Garner joins as counsel. Both are based in the firm’s Memphis office. Both previously worked at Butler Snow in Memphis.

  • Shanker, for more than 20 years, has worked with a wide range of healthcare provider companies. He earned his law degree and healthcare certificate from Saint Louis University School of Law. He is a member of the American Health Law Association and serves as chair of the Executive Council of the Health Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association.

  • Garner focuses her practice on compliance, operational and reimbursement matters and has advised healthcare companies on federal regulations and state laws on reimbursements in all 50 states, as well as provides analysis of health plan documents, contracts and arrangements. She earned her law degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law. She is a member of American Health Law Association and a member of the board for the Health Law Section of the Memphis Bar Association.

Dr. Elyse Rayborn recently joined the faculty of Southern College of Optometry. As an instructor, she will serve on the clinical faculty at The Eye Center, a freestanding teaching clinic on SCO’s campus that provides full-service optometric care to Memphis-area patients. She will train SCO students on their academic journey to treat and diagnose optometric patients. After earning her Doctor of Optometry from SCO, she completed a two-year residency at The Eye Center with a concentration in primary care, participating in a dual-enrollment affiliation program with Christian Brothers University, simultaneously obtaining a Master of Business Administration in healthcare management. Previously, while earning her Bachelor of Science from Boise State University, she worked as a paraoptometric and optician, obtaining certifications in both fields.

Hallie Hastings has joined CanopyNation’s Memphis team as a client services manager to develop and maintain group benefits packages for businesses’ employees. Originally from Palatine, Illinois, Hallie brings to the firm 15 years of experience in human resources management and seven years specifically in employee benefits. Her expertise includes curating benefit programs that are specific to the needs of each client’s unique workforce and that help them remain competitive among top candidates. She has a Professional in Human Resources certification from the HR Certification Institute.

Sanford Mann, administrative director of the Department of Pediatric Medicine at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, has been selected as a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE). ACMPE is the certification entity of the Medical Group Management Association. Fellowship in the program demonstrates mastery and expertise in the profession of medical practice management. Fewer than 2% of MGMA’s 55,000 members are currently designated as Fellows. Mann first earned the Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) designation by passing examinations assessing knowledge of the broad scope of medical practice management. He joined St. Jude in 2008 as administrative director of the Division of Anesthesiology and was promoted in 2016 to the administrative directorship of the Department of Pediatric Medicine.
