Here's a look at promotions, hirings, movers and newsmakers in the Memphis area business scene:

Joseph W. Smith has been named chair of the Tennessee Bar Association’s Family Law Section for 2022-23. He is an associate attorney with the Miles Mason Family Law Group. The TBA Family Law Section brings together practitioners who share a common interest in family law updates and legislative initiatives. In addition, the section provides educational programming and resources such as the Alimony Bench Book to its members annually. Smith concentrates his practice in complex domestic relations actions.

DCA, a creative communications consulting firm based in Downtown, announced new departments and welcomed new and elevated roles to its staff. Leah Gafni joins DCA as vice president of Strategic Activations. She most recently was vice president of Marketing for Memphis Tourism, the official destination marketing organization for Memphis and Shelby County. Gafni will activate and lead client brand extension opportunities, including festivals, fundraisers and newly formed ventures. Cara Greenstein, who has been with DCA since 2014, assumes the role of vice president of Public Engagement. A media relations and social media specialist, she'll oversee the intersection of earned and owned media storytelling and strategy for DCA’s clients. Houston Cofield, commercial and editorial photographer, has been named Photographer in Residence at DCA. Cofield will continue to work as an independent photographer and will support DCA’s visual storytelling for its client roster. He will be based at DCA’s office at 11 West Huling and elevate activity within its photography studio.

Stephen Green has joined Agape Child & Family Services as chief development officer. He will be responsible for fundraising planning and implementation, grants management, and marketing and communication for the organization. He will also manage and provide support for employees within the Development and Marketing departments, members of the Board of Directors, Development Committee, the Fundraising Task Force, and other stakeholders engaged in fundraising for the nonprofit. Green received his master's degree in sports management from the University of Memphis. Prior to joining Agape, Green served as development manager for Streets Ministries.

Reginald Coopwood, president and CEO of Regional One Health, is one of Belmont University’s 2022 Class of Tennessee Health Care Hall of Fame inductees. The Health Care Hall of Fame was created in 2015 by Belmont University in Nashville, the McWhorter Society and the Nashville Health Care Council, a founding partner. The Health Care Hall of Fame’s mission is to honor those who have made significant and lasting contributions to the health and health care industries. Honorees must be practitioners, executives, entrepreneurs, mentors, teachers, scientists, researchers, innovators or any person with a connection to the health or health care field. Among the accomplished nominees, inductees were chosen by a selection committee made up of health care leaders in various sectors from across the state. Selected inductees represent some of Tennessee’s greatest health and health care pioneers, leaders and innovators. Other inductees include Ching-Hon Pui, chair of the Department of Oncology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Honorees will be recognized at a celebration and reception in October.

Noteworthy

Rhodes College is featured in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2023, a best-selling college guidebook that includes profiles of more than 300 of the “best and most interesting” colleges in the country. The college has been included before in the annual guide, which is edited by former New York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske. The guide recognizes Rhodes for strong programs in economics, English, international studies, history, chemistry, business, biology and psychology, as well as educational opportunities beyond campus. It points out that 75 percent of Rhodes students tap into a variety of study abroad programs around the world.
