Two teenagers have been arrested and charged with a shooting that left another teen injured at a fast-food restaurant near three schools November 30.

The 15-year-old victim was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital after being shot multiple times and was later upgraded to non-critical.

The Memphis Police Department said on Tuesday that two 16-year-olds were arrested in connection with the shooting.

The teens, who are not being named as they have not been charged as adults, are charged with attempted first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, vandalism of property $1,000 or less, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

The victim, who has not been identified, was shot at a fast-food restaurant in the 4100 block of Kirby Parkway around 2:30 p.m. Nov. 30. Police said five men, adorned with ski masks, driving a four-door dark grey Mercedes-Benz, were being sought in the shooting.

“Our hearts go out to a student that was shot this evening at a southeast Memphis fast food restaurant today. Any act of gun violence ripples through this entire community. Our prayers are with the families impacted by gun violence this year, this month, this week and this day,” Memphis-Shelby County Schools Interim Superintendent Toni Williams said during a board meeting, hours after the shooting.

The shooting occurred at an intersection near three schools: One is part of MSCS, one is part of the state turnaround Achievement School District and the third is part of the Tennessee Public Charter School Commission.

It was not immediately clear if the teen attended any of the three schools nearby.

The investigation is still ongoing, and Memphis police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact CrimeStoppers at 901-528-2274.
