Memphis Redbirds, Cardinals Triple-A affiliate, sold for second time in a year | Report
For the second time in less than a year the Memphis Redbirds are being sold, according to a report from Yahoo.com.
Silver Lake is paying $280 million for Endeavor's 10 minor league teams after the MLB Player Association objected due to Endeavor WME Sports division, which has agency for MLB and MiLB. The sale is expected to close by the end of the year.
Redbirds President Craig Unger declined to comment to the Commercial Appeal on the sale but confirmed he will remain president of the organization based in Memphis under its new ownership group
The Redbirds, who are the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, were bought by Diamond Baseball Holdings along with five other teams for an undisclosed amount in December of 2021. Diamond Baseball Holdings is a part of Endeavor, a sport and entertainment company.
Going into Tuesday's game, the Redbirds are 55-49 and sitting in third place of the International League West Division. The Redbirds are starting a six-game homestand against Indianapolis.
