Memphis weather: Conditions favorable for more Mid-South severe storms through sunset

Tuesday's weather is set to remain stormy and windy.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a possibility for multiple severe storms to hit the Mid-South Tuesday. The weather service predicts the timing to last from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. this evening. However, the weather service predicts that damaging winds, tornadoes and large hail are possible through sunset.

The areas at the most risk of severe weather will be east of Memphis, including North Mississippi and into the Tennessee Valley, said the weather service.

According to the weather service, severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening. There is a possibility for damaging winds, large hail and a few tornadoes. Storms are expected to exit the region by tomorrow morning. Storms are also expected to cause power outages.

The primary threats from today's storms will be damaging winds and quick occurring tornadoes. The secondary threats are large hail and heavy rain.

The high for Tuesday will be 79 degrees and the low will be 46 degrees. There is an 80% chance of rain during the day and a 20% chance tonight.

Power outages in Memphis

The morning thunderstorms caused up to 37,000 MLGW customers to be without power at one point Tuesday morning, but power has been restored to most customers as of 11 a.m.
