Memphis woman arrested in connection to MS shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis woman was arrested on Tuesday in connection with a shooting in Mississippi last July.

Jessica Harris, 35, was arrested around 1:00 p.m. by the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force and was charged with first-degree murder and shooting into a dwelling.

Harris was wanted in Lee County, Mississippi for a shooting that led to a man’s death.

On July 8, 2023, Verona police officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Reese Street.

When they arrived they found the deceased victim, later identified as 22-year-old Christian Ramos.

After further investigation, warrants for first-degree murder and shooting into a dwelling were issued out of the Lee County Circuit Court. The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force was asked to assist in the investigation, which led them to an address in Memphis.

The task force approached and surrounded the house on the 1400 block of Oberle Avenue. Officers say Harris was arrested without incident and is awaiting extradition to Mississippi.
